Those who are still not registered to vote and want to help Mt. SAC win a friendly competition against other California colleges and universities can participate in the California University and College Ballot Bowl Competition.
The California higher education system has partnered with the California Secretary of State’s Office to form the California Students Vote Project (CVSP) which aims to improve student civic engagement by registering the highest number of students and the highest percentage of the student body.
The previous Ballot Bowl Champion was Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with over 3,000 registrations. Mt. SAC has an opportunity to out-register other schools, with a population of over 60,000 students. The award is to be determined.
Students who want to be a part of this competition can visit a website to register and select Mt. San Antonio College from the drop down list on page three to contribute toward Mt. SAC’s student registration count.
Those who have already registered to vote who did not use the above website or https://castudentvote.org, can not be counted in the Ballot Bowl. Registration can be counted if students re-register with the aforementioned websites to update information such as a change in address.
The last day to register to vote online is Oct. 19. California does allow same day registration on Nov. 3 and Mt. SAC is using their gymnasium as a registered polling place. Those who plan to register same-day and vote in person are able to be counted toward the Ballot Bowl through Mt. SAC at 1100 N Grand Ave in Walnut.
Mt. SAC’s early voting days are Oct. 24 to Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ballot drop-off is available within the same times listed above.
