The Mt. SAC Women’s Cross-Country team placed first last Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational.
The women runners placed first overall in the 3-mile run. They were the top community college among the 126 runners from 21 schools competing. The Mounties finished with a time of 1:35.49 receiving a score of 27 placing first, a 59-point difference of Hartnell College who received 86 points placing in second with a time of 1:40.25
Individually the Mounties secured four spots in the top ten. The Mounties top individual runner was Sophomore Teresa Castillo who placed 2nd with a time of 18:46.6, followed by fellow Sophomore Maria Castillo who placed 3rd with a time of 18:50.0,
Freshman Olivia Valderama finished in 6th (19:06.2), and Sophomore Hannah Batchelor who finished in 8th (19:28.0).
The Women’s team next race will take place on Friday, Oct. 27 for the South Coast Conference Championships in El Monte, CA.
