Mt. SAC sent out a health alert on June 24 informing students and employees that another staff member, last on campus from June 15 through June 18 in Building 46, has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee’s name was not released and they are currently recovering in self quarantine, as stated in the health alert.

According to the health alert, “The college is actively tracing the individual’s steps and contacting employees who came in contact with the individual.” It further includes that anybody who has come into contact with the employee has been given instructions for how to get tested and has been advised to isolate for 14 days.

The alert includes a reminder for students to continue practicing social distancing, to continue to wear a face mask, wash their hands, avoid touching their faces and sharing objects and stay home if experiencing any signs of illness.

According to an alert posted on June 24 to the Mt. SAC health website, “In the Summer and Fall, any classes that can be held online will be online. This Fall, there will be limited labs on campus that will strictly follow health guidelines.”

The campus has been closed since March 19 following the governor’s stay at home order.

In a message from President Bill Scroggins sent out on March 28, it was confirmed that the first employee tested positive for COVID-19. In another message sent out on March 30, a second employee was confirmed to have tested positive.

“If you are sick or believe you have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19, please contact your primary health care provider as soon as possible,” the health alert advises.
