There are many issues going on in our country right now, and the result of the coming election will decide how these issues will be addressed. I believe the most important issue facing not just our country, but the whole world, is COVID-19. This virus has affected everyone everywhere in the world and each world leader has done their best to deal with the spread of COVID-19, except the current president of the United States.

Ever since the virus made its way to the U.S. back in March, the number of cases has only risen along with the death toll, right now there have been a total of 9.3 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the U.S., which is the highest in the world, and 231,000 deaths. I think the way Donald Trump dealt with the virus was extremely ignorant, he was made aware of the virus in January and didn’t do anything about it because we didn’t want to create panic, he also got rid of the pandemic response team, there is absolutely nothing Trump has done to even try to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.

The World Health Organization made it clear that wearing a mask and social distancing helps to slow the spread of the virus, however, the president didn’t make wearing a mask mandatory, so many people feel they don’t need to wear them, or that masks don’t work, and at his rallies and doesn’t enforce social distancing. Trump also promised to his supporters that he would reopen schools and get everyone their lives back, it’s clear that he doesn’t take this virus seriously or understand its severity. Joe Biden has already made a plan to combat the virus if he is elected as president, he will make sure everyone has access to get tested for the virus for free and he will eliminate any cost barriers to preventive care and the treatment for COVID-19.

Biden has a plan and he isn’t even president yet, Trump has known about the virus since the beginning of the year and hasn’t done anything helpful, this is an extremely important issue in our country and the Trump administration isn’t capable of dealing with it, that is why I believe we need a new president.
