Congratulations to the Mt. SAC students taking the next step forward in their academic careers. For those planning to attend the June 14 commencement, here are some important tips and information you should know before attending.
Graduates can request up to six tickets for their family and friends to attend, children under the age of five do not require a ticket. For any questions about tickets, contact the Records and Graduation department for more. Graduates will receive their requested tickets no earlier than June 10.
When arriving, graduates along with those attending, must park in either lots H, F or the gateway parking structure. Parking is free and will open at 3:00 p.m. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the walk from the parking lots to Hilmer Lodge Stadium as it is roughly half a mile.
Handicap parking is available at all lots and those with trouble walking are encouraged to bring their wheelchairs or walkers.
Graduates must follow the directional signs that will lead them to check in by 4:30 p.m. for the ceremony.
Guests must provide their tickets at the gate and go through security when entering the stadium. Items that will not be permitted into the commencement will be alcohol, balloons, banners, signs, flags, pets or noise making devices.
The commencement ceremony begins promptly at 5:30 p.m. regardless of the weather conditions.
Food and water will be permitted into the stadium and it is highly encouraged to bring as the ceremony can last up to four hours. There will also be concession stands offering food and drink during the commencement.
Gifts for graduates will also be available for sale in the stadium.
For family members who cannot attend the ceremony in person, it will be live-streamed on the Mt. SAC YouTube page.
Professional grad photography will be available on GradImages and you will need to pre-register for it before the ceremony. You can use up to seven emails including your own to gain access to the photos taken during the event.
If you have any other questions regarding gaining access to the photos, you may reach out to the customer service line at (800) 261-2576.
Once graduates have walked, they are expected to stay for the entirety of the commencement out of respect for the rest of the graduates and the turning of the tassels.
Graduates will not be receiving their official diplomas at the ceremony, as they will be mailed out 12 weeks later. Make sure that the right address is being used on the Mt. SAC portal.
Most importantly, make sure to enjoy every moment of the ceremony, your hard work and dedication has led to this moment! The time spent at Mt. SAC has led to the next step in your journey as it is important to reflect on it and move into the next chapter of your life!
