Mt. SAC’s Wrestling Team had one impressive showcase on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Mt. SAC Duals. One of the wrestlers who showcased his strength was freshman Jacob Longcrier (174).
Longcrier played three sports in high school: track, football and wrestling. This wide variety of sports built his athleticism making him the athlete he is today.
“Wrestling is so humbling,” Longcrier said when asked why he dedicated himself to wrestling full-time. “I played football since I was about five years old […] when things go wrong you get to point fingers, this sport [wrestling] is all on you.”
The strength that Longcrier possesses was huge to see during his match and he knows that’s one of his biggest attributes. He’s very strong on his feet and can get to the legs of his opponents on every attack. Even knowing how good his wrestling is, he still knows where his game could use some work.
“I can definitely be tougher on top [when on top of an opponent on the ground] and be able to put guys down on the mat [better],” Longcrier added. ,.
The work that he was putting into his craft of wrestling paid off in his match on Saturday getting his first win of the season.
“That’s why I train three to four times a day for moments like that [referring to the win he received],” Longcrier said, expressing his love for the sport.
The Mt. SAC Wrestling Team has its next match Oct. 5 at Modesto College. That’ll be another great chance for Longcrier and the rest of the wrestling team to show their strength and hard work.

Great article, I like that the writer of the article included some of Jacob’s background information that got him to where he is today. Good questions bring out good answers.
