Mt. SAC’s football team has been on a steady incline, winning all six games this season, turning their six-game streak into seven, with their recent 51-7 win over the East Los Angeles College Huskies.
Within half a minute into the game, sophomore Adrion Boyd (29) returned a kickoff one yard short of the endzone to be brought in for a touchdown by sophomore running back Devin Miles (5) . Using speed and aggression, SAC would set the pace for the first quarter, utilizing various weapons in their arsenal.
One such weapon was freshman quarterback Noah Fuailetolo (19) throwing two touchdowns t in the first quarter, a five-yard pass to Miles (5) and a 45-yard to sophomore wide receiver Nicolas Ceballos (9), capping off the first quarter 21-0.
Three was practically SAC’s magic number of the game. Scoring three times in the first quarter, two times in the second quarter, and three more times in the third quarter.
Despite the Huskies having possession of the ball overall, SAC’s defense stepped up with four sacks. . from defenders, freshman linebacker Jeremiah Faustin (46), sophomore linebacker Derick Rabadan (43), sophomore defensive line Juruan Hardin (88) and freshman defensive line Darien Jackson (99).
“I think that we all played as a team together, knowing the level of competition of who we were playing,” sophomore defensive back Juan Salas (2) said when asked about the team performance that night.
SAC held the Huskies to only one touchdown the whole game. The Huskies saw the endzone for the first and last time in the second quarter,as SAC’s defense held . the Huskies’ third down conversion rate to 21 percent.
Assistant coach Darrell Wilson said he was happy that a lot of guys got to get minutes in the game that weren’t just the starters.
“I think the great thing as a coach, just to see your other guys be able to get the opportunity and again, we gave up seven points and that’s on the starters, not the backups,” Wilson said.
“[I feel] good, not done yet, not finished, not satisfied,” Wilson added about SAC’s undefeated winning streak.
Their next challenge will come on Nov. 2 against the Orange Coast Pirates.
