Farmer’s Fridge has placed two vending machines on campus, offering a more balanced meal on the go for students. The new vending machines, introduced at the start of this semester, are located on the bottom floor of building 26 and outside the basketball courts near Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

Unlike traditional vending machines stocked with snacks that are typically seen as unhealthy, Farmers Fridge offers freshly prepared salads, grain bowls and other healthy options with meals restocked frequently, up to four times a week with new products.
Lindsey Collins, regional sales manager for Farmers Fridge, spoke on how the machines are there for a healthier option.
“Healthier meals on the go that are easily accessible and affordable for everyone,” Collins said.
Collins spoke on the goal of bringing these types of meals to busy individuals such as students, hospital staff and travelers. The fridge itself is designed specifically to ensure freshness and safety when the product is purchased. Each vending machine locks items that have passed their hold time ensuring fresh and safe meals.
All meals sold at Farmers Fridge are prepared daily at a central facility near Chicago, using ingredients sourced from local farms around the country.
According to Farmers Fridge’s website, the company collaborates with over 50 local farms and producers to obtain fresh produce and other ingredients. Items then begin assembly shortly after by a team of chefs, then products are shipped out daily to fridges around the country.
Demand for these meals at Mt. SAC has been high with many of the stocks selling out very quickly. “You guys [Mt. SAC] actually goes through quite a bit of product especially, building 26, that seems to be the really popular one,” said Collins.
Farmer’s Fridge plans to expand even further, with over 1,000 locations so far.
