On a sunny afternoon, the weather in Walnut wasn’t the only thing that was going to get hot. SAC softball was hunting for blood after falling to a two game losing streak and the Pasadena City College Lancers were perfect opponents to break the streak.
SAC and the Lancers both started off slow, scoring zero runs in the first inning. A trend that would only follow the Lancers.
As the second inning unraveled, SAC started flowing, scoring runs in every inning moving forward with their highest scoring inning being the fifth.
SAC’s players and supporters were beaming with joy as they were handling the Lancers. The players chanted, giving motivation to the next batter in the order. Celebrations followed after every run that was scored.
It was clear that SAC softball was feeling good.
Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Anthony Gonzales, knew that SAC needed to be loud and have fun to get the energy going for the team.
“We try to set the tone right away, especially in the dugout. Making sure that everyone is cheering out the defenders, getting behind our hitters, and just trying to create a bunch of energy that way,” said Gonzales.

Freshman outfielder Isabella Aspeitia (23), sophomore outfielder Mia Martin (27), and sophomore shortstop Katie Griego (6) celebrated together as SAC scores.

Sophomore catcher/first baseman Morgan Kneubuhler (9), freshman pitcher/utility player Isabella Guerrero (25) and sophomore designated player Samantha Chaves (20) were just three of the eight players that helped SAC cruise to their 8-0 victory against the Lancers.
“We gotta go out there and get it done. The girls came out here confident, they were excited, they were ready to play, and we got out there and got the job done,” Gonzales said.
SAC not only broke their two game losing streak but also gained their own in the same beat, starting a streak of back to back wins after defeating the Riverside City College Tigers the following day.
SAC’s next home game is against the Compton College Tartars Tuesday, March 25, and the women are looking to keep their energy up and their win streak alive.
