Dozens of residents, activists and community groups gathered at Pomona Valley Pride Center on Monday, Oct. 13 to advocate for enhanced city protections for undocumented immigrants in response to ongoing federal immigration raids across the nation.
The demonstration, organized by the “ICE Out of Pomona” coalition, called on the city to expand protections for immigrant residents, improve communication about enforcement activities and stop collaborating with federal immigration agencies. Organizers also urged the city to decriminalize street vending, strengthen renter protections and to stop the use of police checkpoints.
The rally concluded with a march on Mission Blvd., calls for continued organizing and pressure on city leadership to adopt stronger protections for immigrant communities in the city of Pomona.
