“Chainsaw Man”, the hit anime and manga series created by Tatsuki Fujimoto, released its new movie earlier this month in several countries across Southeast Asia, with the United States and other regions receiving it on Oct. 24. With a new movie coming to theaters, comes new fans who have never touched the series and are wanting to go see something special in theaters. So with that, here’s everything you should know before entering the theaters to see “Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc”.
Firstly, the plot. Every piece of media produced for an audience, save for documentaries of course, has a plot for the viewer to follow, and “Chainsaw Man” is no different. Warning, the next few paragraphs will contain spoilers and a general synopsis of the story.
The story follows Denji, a teenage boy who has a pet devil named Pochita, which in the context of the universe is a monster manifested from any specific fear. The two are quite close. Following an incident between Denji and the man he’s indebted to, they become even closer, as Pochita is fused into his heart. This fusion is ultimately what gave Denji the moniker within the universe, which is also the title of the series itself, Chainsaw Man. Following said incident, Denji is introduced to a woman named Makima, who works for a force for policing, containing and eliminating devils for the safety of the public.

With his new ability gained from his fusion with Pochita, Denji is absorbed into the Public Safety Bureau, where he works for a majority of the story. From there, it’s a series of unfortunate events that showcases Fujimoto’s writing as the plot unfurls.
The adult rating is not just there for show. While a lot of rated R movies are oftentimes seen as less rough than they are put out to be, “Chainsaw Man” is one of those series that should be left to older audiences, especially with scenes of people being crushed and bisected.

In both the main forms of consumption of the series, that being the show and manga, gore and various other mature themes, so maybe leave the little ones at home for this movie.
With what has been described about Chainsaw Man, it is up to loyal audience members and curious fans to decide for themselves if this movie is worth the anticipation and watch on the silver screen.
