The Mt. SAC women’s volleyball team seems to be rebounding just fine after a rough preseason. After taking their conference opener over ELAC three sets to one on October 4, the Mounties returned home for their contest against Chaffey.

The Mounties made quick work of the Panthers, sweeping them in three sets 25-15, 25-12, and 25-13 to improve their conference record to 2-0 and overall record to 8-10. They also extended their conference win streak to 12, a streak that began in October of 2015.

Overall, the Mounties had 31 kills, 29 assists, and 22 digs. They had 11, 7, and 13 kills respectively in each set of the three-set sweep.

Sophomore Jordon Wilson had nine kills, two service aces, and two digs, leading the Mounties.

Freshmen Sierra Lujan and Alysha Tullar both had big games as well, with six and five kills respectively.

Also contributing were freshman Brianda Valdez with 17 assists, five digs, and two kills; freshman Malia Carr with eight digs and four service aces; freshman Saipeti Fuiava with eight assists, two didgs, and a service ace; and the freshman duo of Lindsey Lane and Angelique Lee each had four kills.

Mt. SAC will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday, October 11 at home against Pasadena City College, who currently holds a record of 9-8 and is also 2-0 in the conference.
