You’re Doing Great, Sweetie!

You%E2%80%99re+Doing+Great%2C+Sweetie%21

A big question that we all find ourselves thinking is, “WTF am I doing with my life?” You start to look back at all of the hours you’ve wasted on Netflix, listening to music, sleeping, procrastinating, spending money you don’t have, watching people’s stories, scrolling through Twitter, staring into blank space, overthinking small problems…the list goes on and on and on.

You can sit there for hours doing absolutely nothing and be completely fine. Next thing you know, you realize that five hours have passed and you haven’t benefited your life in any way.

I’m here to give you a list of reasons and justifications to help convince yourself that you’re doing just fine and everything’s all good.

We all have those days where you want to just sit in bed and watch “just one episode” of The Office or Parks and Rec, but then it turns into watching the entire series and it’s the next week. You come to the end of a series and Netflix shows you some suggestions since you finished the one you were just watching, and you think to yourself, “Oh fuck, what am I doing with my life?”

Here’s the thing, don’t stress. Sure, you just wasted a few days doing nothing but watching a show, but if you really think about it, most shows have morals of the story for every episode. Say you watched 15 episodes in one day-that’s 15 life lessons you can take with you in the real world.

Even if it’s just learning the best safety procedures to take during a fire, hey, at least you have that knowledge now.

Maybe you find yourself caught up in people’s lives a bit too much when you’re reading tweets, watching people’s stories, or scrolling through trending threads, but at least you’re staying connected to the outside world.

Sure, you’re locked up away in your room from human contact, but at least you know what’s going on in the world. You’re staying connected and updated about the world around you, even if it is just seeing what that one guy you met that one time is eating for lunch.

We’ve all been there. You have some money in your account that you know you shouldn’t spend. You tell yourself that you’ll save the money and buy something next time you get paid. Next thing you know, you’re spending $40 on food and you’re not even hungry.

I’m here to let you know, it’s all good. You may be thinking that you wasted your money, but if you really think about it, you’re still gaining something from it, so it’s not really a waste. Just think about the joy that food brings you. It’s all about the experience and the warm feelings you feel when you enjoy the product you spent money on that you don’t have.

Sometimes you need some time to relax and rest your mind from all of the hard work that you’ve been doing (or not doing). Whenever someone’s been focusing on one thing for too long, you have to give your mind a break from all of the stresses in the world.

It’s totally okay if you space out for an hour or two. Let your mind rest. As much as you need to focus on your work, you need to take care of your mental health too.

Even if you’ve gone through this entire list and find that you do all of these things, don’t stress. We all think that we’re not doing enough for our future and that we’ll end up nowhere, but I’m here to tell you to not stress. Life is stressful as can be, and you don’t have to add to that because you feel like you’re letting yourself down.
