Mt. SAC Football is back from a win against East Los Angeles College, with a final score of 21-16. SACDAWGS accumulated 350 yards of total offense to ELAC’s 216.

Quarterback Dylan Flenniken was one of the game’s leaders with 221 yards. Flenniken was substituting for QB Zach Rangel, who, according to Mountie Athletics and football staff, had a CT scan that came back with no serious injury. Rangel is expected to be back soon.

Flenniken spoke to SAC Sidelines about their win on the road, citing his goals for progress.

“It feels great. I’ve got a lot of things I have to work on, but the team played amazing… defense, o-line, everyone,” Flenniken said. “Everyone played a great game… made me look better.”

The quarterback also commented on the 66-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Sean Bowden in the end zone during the fourth quarter, which set the Mounties up 21-9.

“That gave the team so much energy,” Flenniken said. “We really needed that that touchdown to get the momentum going, and to help out our defense, too, because they were playing a great game and we had to give them some more breathing room.”

SACDAWGS arrived at the ELAC game after facing Chaffey on Sept. 21, which ended with a close score of 24-22. The game against Chaffey had a dominating lead in the first quarter and a push and pull throughout the game, which was a stark contrast from last year’s 13-0 loss.

Mt. SAC Football Head Coach Bob Jastrab also spoke to SAC Sidelines after ELAC game on the win.

“It’s a tough, tough win, and just thankful to change the bad feeling we had from last week,” Coach Jastrab said.

He also shared insight on Flenniken’s performance.

“He did it last year a couple games for us and I’m just happy that you know he battled through and made some great throws and we were able to just run it out at the end of the game,” Jastrab said.
