Who would’ve thought that Gov. Newsom would go as far as to violate his very own COVID-19 restrictions? An “emergency brake” was issued by Newsom last Monday, that said 40 California counties were going to fall under restrictive measures. However, the following days would expose California’s governor breaking his own rules. That’s right, Newsom’s rebellious party-boy antics were caught on camera while attending a dinner party. Thanks to good old Fox News, two photos were captured by a nearby witness. According to the witness, Newsom’s party included his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, and lobbyist, Jason Kinney. But that’s not all! Two high-level members of California Medical Association, Janus Norman and CEO Dustin Corcoran, were also present at the dinner party. To top it all off there was not a mask in sight by neither guests nor Newsom. Uh oh.

You best believe our poor governor was receiving some whiplash. First of all, he was seen at a very boujee restaurant in Napa, which, according to Find Foods Blog, cost $350 per person! I mean what’s really going on, is Jesus Christ himself serving up appetizers? Newsom also told several news outlets (beforehand), that the seating was outdoors. How does the saying go, “a picture is worth a thousand words?”

We all know that a super fancy and luxurious party wouldn’t be if drinks were not flowing, am I right? Had Newsom and his party perhaps been a bit more courteous of the others closeby, he might have gotten away with this one. However, the same witness who took the photos says that their sliding door was completely open. Out of annoyance, she went to close it only to see who was at the table.

Everyone makes mistakes one way or another and Newsom is no different. Yes he did violate his own rules while pressing the whole state of California for strict regulations…but I’m sure he meant well? Or not. One thing is certain, he made a public apology announcement saying that he should have got up, got in his car and simply went home. “The spirit of what I’m preaching all the time was contradicted,” Newsom said. “I need to preach and practice, not just preach.”

With that being said, I believe that he is COMPLETELY in the wrong for what he did. Furthermore, instead of trying to deny all allegations (aside from hard evidence), Newsom manned up and admitted to his faults. He left many California residents upset, but it’s not like the whole county of San Bernardino isn’t following up with a lawsuit against the governor. Regardless of this fiasco, everyone should strive to do their own part and stay proactive. Yes, masks are now mandatory as of Tuesday with California records showing 1,037,978 total novel coronavirus cases along with 18,299 related deaths. All in all, if you’re going to party like a rich rockstar or a Kardashian, do it safely. More importantly, the message we can all take out of this is to simply practice what you preach, along with keeping the noise level at a minimum.
