It’s a sunny Friday morning, and by 9:30 a.m., the barber shop is full of clients making small talk and starting their day with a fresh cut at Deluxe Parlor and Shave Club.
The shop is located at 329 Pine Ave., Long Beach, surrounded by historic buildings that host shops and eateries. After dark, the neighborhood comes alive with sizzling nightlife and sometimes streetwide events. Historic Pine Avenue is known for its vibrant and diverse mix of local businesses and cultural landmarks, celebrating the city’s rich heritage.
Inside Deluxe Parlor & Shave Club, old school decor seamlessly blends with a polished, professional atmosphere. Well-dressed barbers, deeply versed in their craft, keep loyal customers returning haircut after haircut, reflecting the legacy of Pine Avenue’s vibrant history and the shop’s commitment to excellence.

Upon entering the shop, you’re met with a group of extremely friendly barbers and music that takes you back to the early 2000s. Hip-hop and rock music provide a lively contrast to the old school atmosphere.
The shop, which was opened in 2009 in the highly culturally diverse Long Beach, became a mainstay on Pine Avenue. Many locals come through for a quick shave or a haircut with or without an appointment.
Jose Agustin, one of the barbers working that day, said, “[I have] been a barber since 2001 and didn’t want to go to school, so I needed a trade and I fell in love.” Since then, he’s gotten to know people that are from the community and continues to build those relationships every day.
“Morning Richard,” Agustin called out as his loyal customer made eye contact with him as he was heading in for a morning touch up.
When asked about the future of the barber shop, Agustin made it clear that the people who walk through the doors of Deluxe Parlor & Shave Club are in it for the long run. There are other shops where you can get a cheaper cut, but he explains that you get what you pay for. Here, people buy into the experience—a trip back in time to when things were simpler and made more sense.
“I don’t really see too many barbershops like this and everything and old school vibes and all that,” said Agustin.

Many of the customers that come through the doors are regulars and gladly pay the $45 price tag for a fade or taper. Adults with a beard can expect to pay $70, plus a tip, of course. Children are also welcome, with basic cuts priced at $40.
The price comes with high-quality equipment along with the amazing vibe of the shop. Straight razor shaves and quality products are offered to customers on any given visit. It is a one of a kind experience that keeps clients engaged while getting their haircut.
The shop is more than a place to get a haircut; you’re part of something bigger. Being a customer here makes you part of a club that treats its members with respect and provides them with the services they need.
The excellence of the shop has not gone unnoticed, as they have earned a 4.4-star rating on Yelp with many happy customers talking about their experience.
“This place is dope with awesome people and energy. Today I got my second cut from Jesus and he did solid ass job,” Brian G. said on Yelp.
“When I come here, I always go to Fernando! Super chill guy, creates a easygoing fun vibe in the shop with all the other barbers and clients here,” Jimmy S. said on Yelp.

Deluxe Parlor and Shave Club embraces a timeless, vintage ambiance that immerses clients into an experience like no other. In a rapidly changing world, it is easy to overlook how well chosen decor and music can transform an errand into something unforgettable.
