The time is finally here. Halloween weekend is almost upon us and social media pages are already overflowing with pictures and videos of people in their costumes, ready to have the best night out.
Seeing everyone dressed up and having the time of their lives is fun, but for some, a wild weekend of non-stop partying might not be on the agenda, and that’s okay. Anyone can still have an amazing “Halloweekend,” even if it looks a bit different than what we are used to seeing online.
Whether you are still too swamped with midterms to spend every night out, or just not feeling up to it this year, here are some ideas to help you have a fun and festive night in.
Relax & Unwind
The best way to begin any cozy night at home is to find ways to help unwind. Recommended tips could be putting on a face mask, taking a bath or indulging in some much-deserved self care, however you prefer to do so. Even consider taking time to catch up on some sleep by taking a quick nap.
Do something that puts the mind at ease and helps anyone feel rejuvenated. This is a special night no matter how you are choosing to spend it, so anyone deserves to feel their best. Dress your best In order to have the greatest Halloween evening, you have to dress the part. This will likely look different for everyone. Maybe feeling cozy is dressing in matching pajama sets with pumpkins or bats all over it, or maybe there’s still an interest in being in costume?
Who says having fun is to leave your house in order to dress up? Halloween is the perfect excuse to be the most festive we can, whatever that looks like.
Set the Scene
Creating the coziest ambiance is the most essential step to having the perfect Halloween evening. The first priority is turning off any overhead lights. Instead, consider some cozy alternatives.
One of my personal favorite parts of the fall season is the candles. Not only do they make your house smell incredible, but they also create the most comforting atmosphere. Fairy lights or light-up halloween decorations are also wonderful additions to make any room Halloween-ready.
Snack Time
If any night is an excuse to indulge in some sweet treats, it’s Halloween night. For dinner, order your favorite food and take it easy. Tonight should be a night to let-loose! Unless cooking is an option, in which case, consider looking up festive recipes on Pinterest for inspiration. Or, if baking is a hobby, treat yourself to some pumpkin bread or apple pie. And of course, how could the abundance of Halloween candy be forgotten?
Activity of your choice
Now for the highlight of the evening, pick an activity that brings joy and comfort, but add a Halloween twist. If reading is an interest, pick up a mystery book from the library or bookstore. If a film buff is staying in, have a horror or fall film marathon. If a crafty feeling sparks, build a haunted gingerbread house or DIY decor to put up and reuse. There are multiple opportunities to create your dream night, so spend the time soaking up the last little bit of the Halloween season!
