I yearn for someone to ask me what my opinions are and it has finally happened. Strap in, and no I’m not taking any comments at this time, thank you.
1: Men would have an overall better experience in women’s jeans.
If you cannot find a pair of jeans you like for the life of you. I guarantee you will find something you like if you would just suck it up and try on any type of women’s jeans. My pet peeve at my retail job is when I’m asked, “Is this for men or women?”. Why does it matter? They’re jeans. If they look good on you, they look good on you period. Tip from a certified denim expert: Men who have a bigger butt, take this advice seriously.
2: K-pop fandoms are ruining the experience.
Some of the biggest toxic fandoms in the world include K-pop. K-pop has become trendy over this past decade and it’s becoming even harder to be a fan due to the hostility of the fan base. The para-social relationships fans grow for the K-pop idols are terrifying and to the point they will absolutely find a way to dox you online for stating an opinion they don’t agree with. One would assume you injured one of their family members, the way K-pop fans retaliate. One K-pop fan can unleash hundreds even thousands of people to attack you online.
3: The “Silverlake” aesthetic needs to go.
I will repeat myself, it needs to go. If this is your favorite trend all that tells me is you’re boring and lacking a personality. Is this a jab to L.A.? Yes. I’ve had enough of the plain white tees, the barely on top of your head hats, and especially the matching tote bag or coffee that perfectly goes with the fit. It’s boring and shows zero personality. Dare I say, it’s a red flag.
4: If In-N-Out fries are your favorite you deserve jail-time.
If this is you, you’re lying and everyone knows it. Personally, if you have to add something to any fries they are immediately not a contender for the best fries. I have heard people say, “You have to double fry it”. “You have to add your own salt” or “With ketchup or spread it’s the best”. My point exactly, if you have to add anything it’s not a contender.
5: Coachella ticket prices are within reason.
A Coachella ticket is $600 dollars general admission and it’s three days long. That’s $200 a day and each day has at least 30-35 performers. Of those 30-35 artists, if you want to watch at least five per day, that’s five concerts you’re watching for only $200. Girl math!! When only ONE concert in today’s society is starting at $200.
6: Pancakes over waffles any day.
I have never in my life craved a waffle over pancakes. Maybe it’s a texture thing for me, but the thought of a crunchy waffle in the morning makes me ill. Definitely never craved chicken and waffles. Pancakes are fluffy heaven that you can have with fruits and/or chocolate. I’m not trying to crunch at 8:00am. However, I won’t say no to a soft-textured waffle.
7: Gen Z is 100% the generation who have it the hardest.
The debate isn’t even close with this one. This generation simultaneously is setting themselves up for a sustainable future while struggling to support themselves in the present. I am one of many in this generation who is a full-time student working two jobs to help pay bills and keep myself afloat. Gen Z isn’t lazy in the slightest, they just refuse to accept any disrespect, discredit and deception. Specifically from adults, employers and peers.
8: Using the comment section on social media is asking for it.
A pandemic habit I had was scrolling down comment section rabbit holes which made me angry and in-turn led me to engaging in said comment sections. I think engaging in fights or intentionally rage-baiting on social media leads to a lot of anger and frustration when it comes to one’s overall experience online. If you are a constant commenter, take a week off and I promise you’ll suddenly feel lighter. Out of sight, out of mind.
9: Everyone, and I mean everyone, needs to stop using the “n” word.
I’m mixed, black and white, and I have never used that word. Most importantly I have never felt the need to use it. In what scenario would you NEED to say that word? My thought process has always been if I wanted it to disappear, it would never enter my vocabulary. It was never in my family’s vocabulary either. There is the argument that it’s claiming back the power, but I’d argue it needs to be deleted from everyone’s vocabulary to stop other unrelated parties from using it. It’s unnecessary.
10: People don’t know the definition of racism.
Racism is an attack on people within a community, that much is true. But the latter part of the definition is what people choose to ignore or are oblivious to. That being in order for someone or thing to be racist, you must have the power to inflict this form of suppression. Every system of government and beginnings of education were built to suppress people of color. White people can be racist, because they have the power to politically, socially and economically suppress people of color. People of color can attempt to suppress white people, but cannot be racist because historically we do not have the social, economic or political power to create a lasting effect on their community.
