These are my rapid fire opinions. But, they are always right. These are also things I rant about on a daily basis. Enjoy?
1.) Reality television is good.
I’ve heard it all my entire life, all the opinions on reality television. How it’s staged, raunchy and not quality tv. But, I beg to differ. Has anyone watched an episode of “Vanderpump Rules?” Or “Dance Moms?” The casts of these shows were overzealous, but still authentically themselves in a whole other way. Not only that, but their one liners during arguments and outings become a part of my own verbiage. With that being said, I love reality television. (By the way, I’m currently binging Vanderpump Villa on Hulu.)
2.) Men! Stop wearing shorty shorts!
I don’t know when or how the trend of young and older men wearing the shortest shorts known to man came back into the circuit. Yeah, it was a hot topic in the mid to late 80s of workout and pilates classes with men wearing spandex and short shorts, whatever. But now? I despise when I see a man’s hairy upper thigh while outside on a patio while enjoying my nice lunch at a restaurant. Wear long jean shorts, or jeans. No more shorts as short as your boxers. Please.
4.) Spring is the best season.
As a person who was born in the summer, the best time of the year is the springtime. It’s a nice mixture of gloomy, sunny days that aren’t too hot. It’s the best time to go on hikes, visit theme parks or discover local botanical gardens. The beaches are prime to see and the areas to hike are always abundant. It is the best time to camp, travel the state or enjoy your own and nearby cities.
5.) Coachella is actually a fun and worth it festival.
I’ve only been to Coachella once, with my dream lineup and it was one of the best weekends of my life. The prices may seem intimidating, but when mapped out and done right, it can be done within a good budget and won’t break the bank too much. In terms of the lineup, if you have at least 7-8 artists a day, maximum, that you are interested in seeing, that is your money’s worth for the ticket right there. The experience is second to none, especially if you are a true lover of live music.
6.) Movie theaters are dying because they’re expensive!
I love going to the movie theatre as much as any cinephile. But there is no reason a single ticket should be more than $10. I get a twitch in my eye when I hear actors preach the importance of physical and in-person entertainment, and encourage their fans to go see their movies in the theaters. I wish I could, if a trip to the movies didn’t cost me almost $50. But alas, I will still continue to support theaters and will be enjoying a seat in the new fancy recliners.
7.) People who say ‘nature is boring’, were never taken outside as a kid.
Nature and the ability to visit national parks is one of the greatest gifts to human kind. California alone has the most national parks of all 50 states. Being taken on hikes, camping trips or even zoos as a kid are a crucial part of learning the importance of nature all around us. Yes, there are those who don’t like bugs, dirt and heat, but it is almost difficult to say there is nothing beautiful about the viewpoint at the end of a hike with a picture perfect landscape. Go outside and truly, touch some grass!
8.) The 1975 is one of the best bands that are currently out.
I will die on the hill that this band is arguably the best current band in the rock scene, but they’re not just a rock band. Their EP definitely solidified them as a rock band and each member a rockstar, but each album has progressively explored multiple genres successfully. They’re even better live and the true talent of each member and their respective instrument comes through. Drums are crips, guitar is plucky, and vocals are mastered, but raw. It is easily one of the best concerts I’ve been to. Everyone should give The 1975 a chance.
9.) Shows like “Love Island” are one huge psychology experiment, and should be analyzed like one.
Back on the topic of reality television, the category of “simulation” or the sort of isolated reality television shows emulate the mission that a social or psychological experiment would be. They are informed of all that is included, and are even paid to participate. I have taken a Sociology course on love and marriage, and everything I learned was shown on television. People will do anything for love and to make the impression that matters, and it deserves to be analyzed by professionals for true statistical purposes. As an individual minoring in Sociology, I would love to have that job. Put me in coach!
10.) If you wear flip flops to a theme park for a whole day, you are insane.
I am a religious visitor of the mouse’s house. I consider myself a full-blown Disney adult, and I know it is probably nothing to brag about. But, what I continue to learn while visiting Disneyland, is that people know no bounds when on vacation. The amount of times I’ll see a family walk into the gates ready for the day ahead of them, look down and see flip flops, and can already predict they don’t understand the amount of walking they will be doing throughout their day. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve seen someone’s dirty bottoms of their heels above me on Soarin’ Over California, I’d be rich. Wear regular shoes. Please!
That’s all for me! Hope you guys enjoyed or even hated my quick hits.
