These are my hot takes, quick and easy, because the strongest opinions don’t need a super long explanation.
1: Group projects shouldn’t exist after highschool
Relying on other people for your grade when you pay for your own college classes makes no sense. You are paying for your own education at this point and there is no reason for another person to have an impact on your grade when school is a choice and you put up the currency to pay for it.
2: LinkedIn is for “fake” networkers
It is just Instagram for “finance bros” to show off their qualifications. It should only be used if you absolutely need it and these days so many people have them for no reason. Not everyone has to be connected. If your work doesn’t require it, stop linking it in your bio on Instagram and X.
3: Stop recording everything
Concerts, public gyms and Disneyland are riddled with people taking a full documentary for no reason. No one cares and its disruptive to others that don’t want to be on camera.
It’s okay to just live in the moment and not constantly shove a camera in your own face. Not a single person outside of the one recording wants to be on camera, either blur the background or lose the phone.
4: People that say “money doesn’t buy happiness” already have enough money.
Money doesn’t directly buy happiness but it does get you stability and things that you need to survive. This helps facilitate happiness because you’re not worried about your rent or what you’re putting on the table.
People that are already 15 years deep into their career love saying that money doesn’t buy happiness, which is easy to say when you have paid off cars and a house. Stability facilitates happiness and money provides it.
5: Not everyone wants to live the “American dream”
A two story house, white picket fence, two and a half kids and the freedom to spend is an American dream. But not all of us want to own property in America forever and have kids.
Young people shouldn’t be told this is the American lifestyle, go travel or live somewhere else for a while before you box yourself into the “American dream.”
6: Acting nonchalant intentionally is stupid
Acting like you don’t care isn’t trendy, you just look like a tool. Just because some influencer talked about being “emotionalist was cool” doesn’t mean you can walk around life acting like you care only about yourself. That is called being rude to people around you.
7: Not every hobby has to make you money
Doing something outside of work and school is healthy and it should not be another source of income. If you like making YouTube videos you shouldn’t automatically make it a potential source of income. Enjoy your hobby first if you get an opportunity to make it a job.
8: Going out every weekend is overrated
Making going out your personality and constantly posting on social media about it makes you look like you don’t have much going on. Going out every once and a while is okay, but when I see people spending a large part of their free time partying and drinking it makes me question their priorities.
Weekends can be spent relaxing and recovering from a long workweek or from school work. Why is it common for people to party ALL THE TIME.
9: Cheaper dining is usually always better.
Why spend $150 at a fancy restaurant when you can go to a local restaurant for half the price. Most of the time you cannot tell the difference and you save money in an expensive economy.
It is a no brainer when you look at it, plus a lot of popular places to eat just follow trends and lock on the actual quality of the food.
10: People are too comfortable being late
Being late is still rude, believe it or not. These days, students especially, are okay with being late to every class and it’s embarrassing. It shows a lack of commitment especially if you’re not doing well in the class.
This comes out a lot when you work an entry level job. Most people are ten minutes late every single day and it’s honestly sad. If you don’t want to work or go to class just don’t sign up.
That’s all I have. Hope you enjoyed, hated, or even agreed with my rapid fire opinions. I said what I said.

Truth – the American dream should be whatever it is that makes you feel fulfilled in life. That looks different to everybody.

Agree with the group project take—grades shouldn’t depend on other people’s effort. And the lateness point is real too… respecting people’s time says a lot
