The New York Knicks swept the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 130-93 in game four of the Eastern Conference final on May 25. This will be the first time the Knicks have made the finals since 1999, with their last victory coming before in 1973.
With star players Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns leading the team, the Knicks are showing championship potential. Both of them averaged above 20 points per game with a coaching staff leaf by head coach Mike Brown. New York is set to face the future Western Conference Champion which will be crowned after the completion of game seven between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Knicks have struggled in the last 25 years to find a team identity and winning culture. In the 2021 season, with a first round exit with promising expectations following a surprising playoff birth, things had started to come together. Going into 2022, they acquired Brunson and in 2023 they added Towns cementing themselves as Eastern Conference juggernauts.
The win from the Knicks has brought around celebration from all New Yorkers across the city itself with the mayor himself joining in on the celebration. New York has the fifth longest title drought being 53 seasons, with this being their first real chance since that historic 1973 win.
For Knicks Fans and basketball fans alike, New York contending for the championship is not only a huge milestone but the return of a big market franchise into the NBA’s history books.
