One of two murals depicting the artistic representation of Covina. Unlike the other across the street, this mural gives an old world feel to those who look at it.
Hometowns are the places that mold us. For better or worse, many people grow up creating memories and for some, that place is Covina, California. A city with a population of 51,268 as of the 2020 census. While some may call the city unremarkable, there’s a sense of community in the old town.
Founded in 1882, Joseph Swift Phillips and incorporated in 1901, Covina started as a town that made its livelihood by tending to the vast orange groves that surrounded the town. Nowadays, it stands as a town that is expanding and renovating.

Sometimes all it takes is to take a step back and go outside to experience what your local community may have waiting for you.
Hi! My name is Kaeleb Hanson and i’m an award winning student journalist. When i’m not in the News room, you can typically find me either at work or grinding away in whatever videogame i’m playing that day. With a slow start to my college career, i’m finally back on track and will still have another few semesters on staff. I hope to see you around campus!
